Irvine Park Santa Train
Every year since the kids were little, we have visited the real Santa Clause at Irvine Park. The kids write their letters to Santa and take them with us to open them with him there. It is so great and this year it was especially fun to watch Cameron's eyes light up when they met. We were with Grandma, Mary, and both Alexs' and we had a great time. Its always fun to ride the train with all of the Christmas lights, visit Santa, have some popcorn and hot chocolate, and enjoy the activities at the park afterward.
Treat Making
We spent a family night making yummy treats for all of our friends and neighbors, as well as the entire staff of Wells Middle School. :) We had a great time and the kids love getting involved and helping out with any kind of project. We made cookies with hersheys kisses in the middle, and later that night, David and I stayed up until about 1am finishing the cookies for his staff with peanut butter cups in the middle. Check out how much we had made at the end of the night!!
The next night we delivered them to friends and neighbors. At each house, the kids jumped out and sang We Wish You a Merry Christmas and handed out a box of treats to each family. It was a great night and I always feel like we get more out of it than those that we visit. We have done this for a few years now and it has become a wonderful tradition.
Special Conversations
On Christmas Eve, David and I tucked the boys into bed and told Kylie that we needed her help with something. Once the boys were asleep, I took out a very special letter that I had written to Kylie. Because my children read this blog, I cant go into detail. Lets just say that she is almost 11 years old, and I was the one that wanted to deliver a very important message and answer any questions she might have. I was so worried how she might feel, but she was amazing, and probably already knew and was waiting for confirmation. :) Needless to say, she stayed up late that night with her mom and dad. It was a very special moment and I will always remember it.
