The next morning she woke up and came in saying, "Mom, where is my earring?" I kind of blew her off and said, "Oh, no big deal, maybe it just fell out while you were sleeping." I waited a few more minutes until I was doing her hair to take a look at it. She explained that it was still in her ear and that she could feel it. Honestly, it took me like ten more minutes to believe that it was actually stuck inside her ear. Seriously. To make a long story short, we went to the doctor, who then sent us to an ear, nose, and throat specialist. He explained that he would not be able to get it out in the office because she was so young. He said that she would probably freak out and squirm causing more damage to her ear. He told us that we would have to come into the out-patient surgery center the following week for a minor surgery to remove the embedded earring from her ear.
So, she missed a day of school, and we went. I was impressed at how calm she was. Considering she is her mother's daughter, she handled it very well (and so did I....I might add!). We talked during the time they were getting everything ready, and when it came time for her to go, she waved good bye and went. After about fifteen minutes they brought her back out. No crying, just calm, eating a popsicle. She did a great job and is now as good as new....except with only one earring. We are waiting for her ear to heal completely, and then it will be time for ear piercing, round two. Wish us luck this time!

Good ear....Relaxing after surgery....
